Show you can DANCE

This course will help develop confidence in dancers of all levels. You will learn 2 (2 minutes) Salsa/Mambo choreography in a friendly, non-judgmental environment.

The course is designed to help you apply your talents in ways that will make you stand out in a crowd. If your freestyle is lacking excitement, it's time to step it up! Learn the basic salsa moves. This is an equal opportunity for men and women to learn how to bring sexy back. Create the dancer you've always dreamed of becoming while preparing to be a better performer.

There will be a short warm-up with various stretches and isolation exercises to improve movement and flexibility. All participants will be included in an informal stage performance in front of an audience at the end of the course. Here's you chance to Show you can DANCE or just show yourself you can learn to move better at the club or even at the next office party!

Performance will be held at Lehman College's Lovinger Theatre in June and will be televised in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan public access channel.

Nicholas Messina -

NicholasBorn and raised in New York, Nicholas Messina has a very diverse range of knowledge and insight into many different styles of dance including the Latin dances, American Rhythm and Smooth Ballroom dancing. However, New York’s style of Salsa on “2” and New York style Cha Cha have become two of Nicholas’ passions. Having learned with many of New York’s top Salsa pioneers, he offers unique insight into the technique and form of the fun, popular style of dance known as “Salsa on 2” or “Mambo.”

It is his understanding of Ballroom technique fused with the exhilarating, sexy, club style of New York’s Salsa/Mambo scene that makes learning with Nicholas such an uncommonly, wonderful experience. His love for Salsa and Cha Cha, both music and dance, are very much present in his high energy and informative classes. In addition to teaching group classes, Nicholas is available for private lessons.

Saleana Negron
saleana

Saleana Negron is one of the most well-known and effective dance teachers in NY. Her popularity in the youth community is incredible. It’s Saleana’s ability to turn young dancers into dancing stars that captivates the hearts of many. Chances are if you see a child or young adult dancing in a movie, in music videos, in a dance company or teaching at a dance school, they will tell you that they either have or had Ms. Saleana as a teacher. She is the Co-Founder and Youth Director of Time 2 Dance Academy, the Founder and Director of Danze Dimensions Dance Company and a College Physical Education and Dance Professor. Saleana also maintains a Masters in Science of Education and NYS Teacher certification. Her exposure in dance performances and instruction from all over the world in many styles of dance makes her a diverse dancer, choreographer and teacher. Saleana has performed professionally in many fields of dance, from Hip Hop to Mambo and from Ballet to Tap. She has performed with various artists including: LL Cool J, Tito Nieves, George Lamond, K7, Father MC, TKA, Cynthia and was a featured dancer on MTV’s “The Grind”. Her performances and choreography include TV, stage and film.

Steve Seda
Steve

Steve Seda was principal dancer for the RMM Dance Company, the Mario Diaz Dance Review, and the Addie-tude Dance Company and is currently a member of The Descarga Latina Dance Company. He has performed on the Combinacon Perfecta Tour; appeared on stage at Madison Square Garden, Roberto Clemente Arena, Carnegie Hall, Waldorf Astoria, Copacabana and at various New York’s Salsa/Mambo Dance Clubs. He has traveled to Philadelphia, Florida, Los Angeles, Chicago, Texas and Colombia. He has also appeared in various videos including India, Tito Puente, Hilton Ruiz and La Combinacion Perfecta

It is apparent in both his open floor work (floor shines) and in his partner work segments, that Steve focuses on developing a good basic foundation with his student base. Beginning with simple footwork, Steve introduces elaborate footwork when he is certain that you can handle them. His goal is to turn out good students with a solid mambo foundation. Steve knows that teaching people too many different moves in a couple of lessons will never create good dancers. A student will benefit more with a few strong moves and progressing based on the student's ability. Quality not quantity is his motto. From observing Steve, it is clear that he enjoys teaching; creating choreography and watching his students perform his routine. Steve is very attentive and strives to provide individual attention.
